Title: Nancy Rose
Medium: Hand pulled 5 x 4.5 inch Dark Field Monotype with Watercolor & Colored Pencil
Support: Rives BFK Printmaking paper
Process: Monotypes are made by painting on a smooth (not etched) plate, and pressing the still-wet pigments against paper to create a print of the image. For this piece, I used black, oil based etching ink on a zinc plate (see the process pics in this listing). The ink was rolled onto the plate with a brayer, and the portrait was lifted out of the wet ink in a subtractive process with my finger tips, points and rags, etc. and then pressed to soaked & blotted paper on a hand cranked press. After the ink was dry on the monotype, I added colored pencil and watercolor.
Edition: This is an edition of 1 (one).
Frame: The art is offered here unframed. If you'd like it framed, please be in touch for an estimate.
Story: The image was based on vintage photos from our family albums.
