white minimalist circle pendant on bright orange silk / 12th, 18th, 20th anniversary gift / ceramic handmade jewelry / gift for her
A perfect necklace to celebrate your 12th anniversary where the traditional gift is silk. This easy to wear minimalist porcelain circle pendant features an adjustable length bright orange silk cord finished with tiny silver end caps.
The handmade pendant is thrown on the wheel as a cylinder and then carefully sliced. The clay is fired to 1260 c in the kiln and then polished to leave it very smooth and tactile. Due to the handmade nature and natural materials, there may be subtle variations in size, shape and finish.
The silk cord is left long and is easily tied to adjust to your required length. I offer this style in many colours of silk as you will see in the photos- simply drop me a line to choose which colour you would prefer instead.

-PORCELAIN-
If you are wondering about the strength of porcelain, prepare to be surprised. Did you know it is the strongest of all clays? Fired up to 1260c (2300F), wheel-thrown porcelain is a super-strong, water tight material with smooth, delicate looks. Simply handle it with the same care you use in normal day-to-day life. It is easy to clean with a toothbrush or damp cloth. The vases are dishwasher safe! Using a bit of damp sandpaper on the bare clay will improve the smoothness after time. Looked after carefully, porcelain will last for many generations.
I make all my work by hand in my peaceful studio on the Moray Firth in Scotland where I live with my wonderful husband and slightly odd cat.
I have been a potter for the last nine years after discovering the amazing joy of working with porcelain on a potter’s wheel. After making my name with wheel-thrown porcelain cups, bowls and vases, about 5 years ago I began making jewellery on the potters wheel too.
Each piece begins as a lump of pure white porcelain clay which I throw by hand on my potter’s wheel and is sometimes then sliced to make the jewellery pieces. I then fettle (smooth and refine) very, very carefully and then I fire each piece to 900c, smooth it, sand it and glaze it and fire it again to top temperature which is 1260c in an electric kiln and give it a final diamond-polish. Each piece I make takes several weeks from start to finish as it requires so many time consuming processes which are all completed carefully by hand.
