Highlights
~ Beautiful Colourfull leather appliqué ~
" One of a Kind " landscape rendered with many different colours of leather, finely top stitched . Body of jacket is 99 percent older cotton denim button front, true ladies medium short jacket.
The landscape wraps around the side of jacket , cat tails on the front left side venture to meet the gazing Bobcat that fills the scene On the back, with a lake and sky, the Moon rises from a horizon with swirling clouds , plenty of blue sky.
Cat tails sway in the breeze, the smiling Bobcat looks out into another landscape .
This Bobcat started with just the appliqué head, and evolved into what you see now, she had fangs at first but I took them off, she became more a gazer then ! The Lake added was a suggestion from a friend and so I also hand cut the Cat tails from memory and a few photos to the edge of lake. ( A tattoo artist around here loves them ) appliqué is a lot like fine ink drawing.
I started doing leather Appliqué for jean jackets around 1972. And various leather techniques using appliqué for garments.
It is painting with leather colours , often a friend will see the finished piece I sent in a photo, and think it is an acrylic painting.
