This is a natural Tourmalated Quartz gemstone. (Black Tourmaline in quartz.) The ring is hand fabricated from solid sterling silver with an extra thick, half round bezel and band.

The stone alone measures 22 mm long x 16 mm wide. The ring is a USA size 7
The band is 2 mm thick with a 4 mm width.

I've rounded the outside of the silver to give it a smooth and ultra comfortable feel between the fingers and a simple yet contemporary design that keeps the focus on the stone.

This quality of tourmalated quartz is special due to the fact the tourmaline is well balanced inside of unusually clear quartz.

As one of my very favorite gemstones, tourmaline has always intrigued me with its wide variety of colors and beryl like growth crystallization.
Tourmalated Quartz, sometimes called "black rutilated quartz" or "Schorl", is clear quartz which black tourmaline has penetrated through during its natural growth. The only appreciable source worldwide for this stone is located in Brazil and becoming increasingly difficult to locate jewelry quality specimens. This stone was hand selected from the cutter directly.

Facts and Folklore:
Tourmaline has a unique ability among stone to maintain a faint but constant electrical charge and magnetism. This is measured at 0.06mA, which is why tourmaline continues to be known as “the electric stone,”
Black Tourmaline is a powerful stone, with a long history among many cultures. Our ancestors as well as today's healers use tourmaline for grounding energy, increasing vitality, reduce tension and stress, clear negative thoughts, encourage a positive attitude when its challenging,
stimulate altruism and practical creativity, strengthen the energy body and immune system and to maintain balance of yin and yang.
The addition of quartz amplifies the the active aspects of tourmaline.
