Is there any child who is not, in some way, captivated with dirt and bugs? So, when weather is unfavorable and you can't get out, why not bring the outdoors in? This luxury can be an easy possibility with Aspiringtot's Deluxe Sensory Bug Bin!
This activity was created for both open-ended pretend play and structured learning alike. Children will have a blast and be completely engaged, while learning fun facts about nearly 50 different creepy crawlies in the informative book "Bugs A - Z". Ask children to find the correct species from the bin that are featured in the accompanying book. Then, let the fun begin as little hands "catch" those bugs from the play garden and see if they are indeed a match. This is a fun way to introduce deductive reasoning as they compare or contrast the bug species in the bin to the bugs in the book. Children will even be exercising fine motor skills while putting bugs in the jar, with the included tweezers, and screwing on the magnifying lid. Continue the work with your little ones by teaching them classification. The bugs can be sorted, or classified, into their proper categories. Even younger children, working on colors, can combine learning color names and sorting skills by separating each bug into different groups by their main color. Why not add in some math skills for tots who are working on one to one correspondence? This can be done by asking them to count the legs of each creepy crawly or even do counting and measuring work by asking children to find the number of bugs that will fit on the grass or across the log.
I feel that the greatest learning is obtained (and retained) when we enjoy the topic and have fun throughout the process! Therefore, one can easily see that Aspiring Tot's Spring/ Summer sensory bin would be the perfect asset in any early education environment. The sensory bug bin makes a wonderful addition to a lesson on insects for Waldorf, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Charlotte Mason inspired educators, for a homeschool teacher, or in any preschool and elementary school setting.
Who doesn't enjoy learning about mini beasts and the unnoticed work they do for our world? Blur the line between learning and play with Aspiringtot's sensory bins, loose parts activities, tinker trays, educational provocations, and nature items. With so many ways to play and learn, with Aspiring Tot's toys, the fun never has to end!
