This is a great cat/kitten costume to have for your pet turtle or tortoise, since they blend in very easily to the grass or dirt it's very hard to find them. With this little costume you can easily see your turtle grazing in the yard. Shelly can easily walk with these costumes on. It also doesn't fall of easily since it is attached with an elastic (only use when under supervision and for a short period of time). I can custom make these costume's to fit your pet. There will be an option to add a rosebud to the costume if you would like it for your lady turtle. If you would like a different color for your costume please state the number in the buyers note. For the costume measurement I only ask for the length and width of the top of your pet's shell. Please refer to the pictures included at the end. Shelly currently measures 6 ½ inches long and 5 ½ inches wide although her costumes are made to 5 ½ in x 5 ½ in. to ensure that her costume doesn't slip off or get caught in her nails. The elastic and crochet costume are stretchy so it does not bother her. Please note costumes can only be made round (example- 4x4 or 4.5x4.5) I hope this helps in measuring!

Do you need help measuring your shelled friend? Please refer to this video at the end of this post (can also be found in the About Section of my shop) this will show exactly how your friend should be measured! Please note that I use a soft measuring tape. Also, costumes may measure more/less in mm as they are made by hand and stitching will vary by design. Please understand that our shelled friends are not perfectly round so their costumes may not fit them from edge to edge of their shell.

If you measured your turtle incorrectly or the costume did not fit them as you hoped please message me for a 10% discount code towards the new costume (only applies to costumes that are repurchased due to sizing issues, shipping fees will still apply to these orders, the same costume must be purchased as well). When your shelled friend has a measurement such as this it is important to note that most costumes can only be made round (5x5 or 5 ½ x 5 ½). In this situation, the costume for this turtle will measure 5 ½ x 5 ½.

Please do not estimate your shelled friend's measurement, they may appear larger or smaller than they actually are. I provide reference photos at the end of every listing so that you know how to measure your turtle/tortoise, please note I use a soft measuring tape as this accommodates for the curve of your shelled friend's shell. At the time I do not offer half/quarter sizes on my listing variations as it leads to confusion when measuring your shelled friend although I can definitely make them that size. Please list your shelled friend's size at the time of purchase on the buyer's note section.

Shelly's costume order would be purchased as a 5x5 costume but I would include in the buyer's note that her measurement is 5½ x 5½ as the costumes can only be made round.

Unfortunately, custom costumes cannot be ordered ahead of time as I make the costumes for my shelled model first. This is to ensure that the costume design is to your liking and that the design is comfortable for our shelled friends.

For example, I offer sports theme-inspired costumes, please note that the listing is for that design only. If you would like a different design than what I have offered please feel free to send me a message so that I can add that request to our list of custom costumes requests. Due to high order volumes and a current waiting list for costumes, this may take a month or more to complete. Once I have completed the initial costume for my model, I will then create a listing so that the design can be ordered.

Typically, our shelled friends who can go to their shortest measurement are about an inch or two of a difference in their length and width.

Although with our actual oval shaped shelled friends (such as RES) they need to be made to their actual measurements. For example, one of our aquatic shelled models measures 8 W x 12 L. I prefer simpler costume designs (ex. Pom Pom, Mariachi, dinosaur, etc) for her as any other of the intricate designs (ex. Donut, Cheeseburger, etc) will be a bit distorted due to the oval shape. In her situation I will order a 12x12 costume and leave a buyer's note of her actual measurements 8x12 and including a picture of them being measured as shown on my listing pictures is always a huge help to us!
