This dish has other functions too: it makes a great spoon rest, you can use it to make and serve vinaigrettes, mince garlic and add oil and/or balsamic for dipping bread, grate parmesan at the table and to grate nutmeg for baking. I make my own clear glaze and use food safe underglazes.

Use wood utensils on the ceramic surface (I like a wooden spoon or chopstick). Like most ceramic objects, this goes in the dishwasher, but handwashing is preferable.
