Saint Joseph the Worker

My church asked me if I would be willing to design a new picture for the Saint Joseph Catholic Church bulletin. I was so excited by this opportunity!!!! :) I decided to depict Joseph teaching a young Jesus how to work with his hands in the wood shop. We look to Saint Joseph to pray for us to be hard workers and loving stewards of what God has entrusted to us. So patient and loving, Joseph gently lays his strong hand upon the shoulder of Jesus to encourage and instruct. The Holy Spirit, represented by the dove nestled in the window of Joseph's wood shop, looks on this loving scene with approval. Curled wood shavings ( I just love the curli-Q shape :) ) seem to float to the wood shop floor while the curled shapes are repeated in the frame. I was imagining a stained glass window with an intricately carved wood frame as I painted this piece. Intertwined into the wood frame is Joseph's lily.

The set includes five, 5" x 7" blank cards with reproductions of an original watercolor and prismacolor painting by Carla Starling Quigley. Each card is signed on the back by the artist and comes with a brightly colored envelope (color of envelopes may vary).
