I love this papyrus reinterpretation of Hunefer's Book of the Dead judgement scene. In the upper left, Hunefer is shown venerating the gods Ra, Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Geb, Nut, Horus, Isis, Nephthys, Hu, Sia, and the Southern, Northern, and Western roads. In the lower portion, from left to right: the god Anubis escorts Hunefer, where his soul is weighed against the feather of Ma'at (truth). If the soul is heavier, the destroyer (crocodile-lion-hippo monster) will eat it. Thoth, the god of Knowledge, records the weighing. Horus the Younger, son of Osiris, escorts Hunefer to see Osiris, lord of the dead. Behind Osirus stands Isis and Nephythys, and Horus's four sons stand on a lotus flower in front. The paint is beautiful with just a hint of gilt that makes it pop without looking gaudy. Would gladly buy again.
