Materials: African Sapele, mahogany, with Sea Accents

Handcarved Tuna Sculpture from African Sapele (mahogany) with saltwater eyes and sea accents.
The fish measures 20" long x 8" high x 4" wide plus the width of the fins. Base measures 12" x 9" x 1"

I first cut out with a band saw, shape and hand chisel then hand sand starting with an 80 grit sandpaper down to a final polish with a superfine 5000 grit to achieve a beautiful glossy finish. Preserved and polished with Danish Oil and a beeswax finish. All natural finish, there is nothing else applied to the wood.

Occasionally oil with an orange oil such as Howard Feed-N-Wax Wood Polish & Conditioner , mineral or olive oil to preserve the finish.
