A wonderful fruit is the pluot, a cross between a plum and apricot. These gorgeous fruits are juicy, snappy, and packed with flavor, and crop more reliably in our coastal area than the finicky apricot. This etching is one of several new ones I made to illustrate my husband Orin's 2019 book on growing trees organically, "Fruit Trees For Every Garden," winner of the American Horticulture Society 2020 Book Award.

Like most of my color etchings, I print using just one plate ('a la poupee' technique), which requires careful application and wiping of the ink. I love the effect as one color blends subtly with another, something you don't get with multiple plates.

This particular etching is labelled Bon a Tirer, (Good to go) designating it as the final trial proof as I was etching and printing the copper plate. It serves as the example I wanted the small edition of 16 to follow.
