This is an original watercolor painting from my most recent trip to Alaska in 2017. It was the last day there, and we were headed back to Anchorage from Seward, AK. Traveling up the Kenai Peninsula, we stopped at a cafe in Moose Pass. Everyone else went inside for snacks and ice cream, but I was drawn down a short path behind the building, where a mountain lake, fed by rivers of glacier water, sat still and serene, reflecting the misty mountains on the other side of the lake. The view I found was magical!

Artist's Statement and Bio:

I create art because I am compelled to do so. The feeling I get from creating something that pleases my senses—and hopefully the senses of others—has held me in its grasp as long as I can remember. When I see something that captivates my eyes, I immediately start thinking about how to translate it into a drawing or painting.

I have been working as a professional artist for over 13 years and have been practicing drawing and painting my whole life. I am a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, where I currently live and maintain a studio. I also teach watercolors to students of all levels and love to share my deep passion for the medium with others.

I am incredibly honored to have sold paintings to collectors from around the world and to have received numerous prestigious awards for my work. Most notably, I achieved Signature Membership in the American Watercolor Society in January 2021, which is earned by receiving juried acceptance into 3 separate AWS International Juried exhibitions and is meant to be an indication of the painter having established a consistent style and to have demonstrated considerable skill in the medium. I am also a Signature Member of the Southern Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of North Carolina, and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.
