Together with the language, similitude in textiles is remarkable. The Japanese boro cloths are well known by collectors. These are pieces of fabric patched and mended over and over till the patches create a wonderful texture.

Boro cloth has become a trend. The thriftiness and patience used and the respect for the cloth itself results in a work of beauty.

This is a large ticking cloth which used to be blue but is now mostly faded it is made out of 6 pieces from two types of fabrics, finely woven and patched and mended till an inch of its life. It is 34'' by 31'' (79 cm x 86 cm), it has holes, stains and stitches.
