THIS QUILT IS REGISTERED IN THE INTERNATIONAL QUILT INDEX as Arizona - Just Add Water. It toured the Historical Society clubs throughout Arizona in 2012 for two years. Is in excellent shape as it is now displayed at the Prescott Veteran’s Hospital on the second floor Physical Therapy and Rehab Clinic.
It took me 6 months and $3,000 of fabric to create from an image in my head and eventually to this finished high-quality product.
This quilt is a fabric representation of a tour of Arizona 100 years ago (the backside) and Arizona today. From the top of the quilt with the Grand Canyon and Indian reservations to the south with military bases depicted by various ranks and emblems to the Mexican border with American flag designs interspersed with Latino music instruments and chili peppers. The state capitol, Phoenix, is the closeup photo with Sheriff Arapio and his pink prison garb, scattered alphabet letters with bright colored flip-flops representing Arizona State University and the tourist industry.
The backside shows fabric choices of desert dwelling critters, lots of sand dunes, barren landscapes and transportation themes.
Perfect wall hanging for your history class or community boardroom.
Can be used as a quilt in the bedroom, too. But prefers to be the center of attention where others can enjoy its beauty, creativity, authenticity and adventurous nature.
