A chunky stocking hat inspired by Chloe Kim at the 2018 Winter Olympics

Olympic Snow Day is knit in the round using the Fisherman’s Rib stich pattern, which creates a squishy and plush hat with a lot of spring and stretch. Although it looks like a K1P1 rib, Fisherman’s rib is much more dense and warm. The gigantic pom pom is optional, but why face a snow day without one?

This hat is knit in the round from the bottom up. It's a great hat for beginning knitters who would like to add another stitch pattern to their repertoire or for experienced knitters looking for a bit of a break from complicated patterns. The trickiest part of this pattern are the last few rows which contain the decrease stitches. Before these decrease rounds of the crown, it is strongly advised to add a lifeline to your work by putting a thin string through each stitch in the round. (Just don't knit this string into the crown!) Once the hat is complete simply remove the lifeline.
