Hand Turned Spindle Stick: Medieval Style, Light Weight

With its carefully designed dimensions, this spindle stick can hold ample spun yarn. The tapered bottom end, featuring a 3-inch taper leading up to a 1/2-inch (13mm) wide "belly," accommodates most whorls available on the market. It seamlessly pairs (more often than not) with extant medieval metal whorls and modern whorls with similar hole sizes.

Crafted to strike the perfect balance, the bottom tip of the spindle stick is sturdy enough to withstand accidental drops.

The tapered bottom of the stick perfectly matches the holes in my whorls (available separately), ensuring a secure fit during use. While straight-hole whorls can also be utilised, the use of tapered-hole whorls is recommended for a more secure fit. In the case of straight-hole whorls, a small elastic band or alternative device may be employed to hold them in place.

Spiral grooves will be cut for "clockwise (Z)" spinning by default. If you would prefer them the other way round (for S spinning) please leave a note on your order or let me know with a message.

*** Suitable for use with whorls that have a 7mm (small end) or larger tapered hole, but will accept whorls with up to an 11mm diameter hole (ideally tapered). If you have any doubts as to whether these sticks will take your whorl(s) please convo me and I will do my best to advise. ***

Everything in my shop is hand made (by me) and "made to order" so my lead times are necessarily quite long. Please bear this in mind when ordering, especially if you are ordering a gift with a deadline.

A note on international shipping:
In order to keep costs down for international customers, the "standard" shipping option (which is selected by default at checkout), does not include tracking. If you'd like a tracked service please upgrade to the tracked option at checkout.
