A soft Merino wool pilot hat designed to comfortably cover a baby’s head and ears without bulky layers. The close-fitting shape and ties help keep the hat comfortably in place, making it a practical everyday choice for newborns, babies, and toddlers.
A simple pilot-style shape works well indoors, outdoors, and underneath a warmer hat when an additional layer is needed.
CHOOSE YOUR FABRIC
This hat is available in two fabric options.
All coloured options are made from 100% Merino wool.
For natural white, undyed fabric, you can choose between two options:
Natural White – 100% Merino Wool
The same classic Merino wool fabric as our coloured versions, but left in its natural, undyed white shade.
Natural White – 75% Merino Wool / 25% Silk
This option is also completely undyed. Compared with the 100% Merino wool version, the Merino & silk fabric is slightly thinner, lighter, and cooler, making it especially suitable for warmer weather, indoor wear, or when you want a lighter layer.
PREEMIE OPTION
Preemie size is available only in natural white.
You can choose:
• Natural White – 100% Merino Wool
• Natural White – 75% Merino Wool / 25% Silk
Preemie size is not available in coloured options.
WHY A PILOT HAT?
The close-fitting shape helps cover the head and ears, while the ties help keep the hat comfortably in position.
It can be worn as:
• an everyday baby hat
• a newborn hospital hat
• a lightweight outdoor layer in milder weather
• an indoor hat when needed
• a first layer underneath a warmer hat
The stretchy fabric follows the shape of the head without the bulk of a traditional knitted bonnet.

I have highly sensitive skin and live in merino wool. I was delighted to find these nightdresses. I am not exactly sure of the composition since there is no exact description or label, but the nighty doesn’t set off my eczema, so the natural content must be high. They are so wonderfully cosy and comfortable at night whether I am hot or cold that they are worth every penny, even with the extra that I paid to have a longer length. The navy is in fact a kind of navy/teal colour, but very flattering so I am delighted with the whole purchase.
This hat is seriously the cutest. I wish I had a dozen of them.
