The Artmaster Special Effects Brush ranges provides unique brushes for creating texture and unique brush strokes in your watercolour painting.

The hair of each brush has been selected for its colour carrying capacity, it's spring and softness as required for the delicacy of watercolour.

The range consists of:

Large Detail - a large bellied brush with a highly tapered point. This carries colour and water well while ensuring a nice neat line. Use for detailing but can also be used for creation of lines and washes of varying thickness, by alternating the angle of the brush during use.

Grass Comber - create a natural looking grass (or fur) with this one! Best used dry over wet colour on your surface, with an upwards flick, or a thin colour load if used wet.

Sword Liner - this brush creates a beautiful scrolling line if you bend the wrist during use. Perfect for long petals and leaves or for decorative calligraphy-like patterns.

Foliage Stippler - best used dry or with a light colour load, this creates a natural looking texture that mimics foliage. Use for effortless hedges, mosses, background trees and bushes! The hog bristle has a coarseness great for texture.

Tree Fan - The tree fan (also with a coarse hog bristle) is ideal for dappling tree leaves along a branch by tapping the edge with a light loading of colour onto your surface. Fan brushes are also great for blending and softening colour.

Background Wash - A very soft squirrel hair that has great water and colour holding, making it best for washes. This is a flat brush that rounds and then narrows, like a petal. The pointed tip ensures neat colour filling without spilling over. Best used from the top of your painting downwards, angling your stroke from fine to full.
