"Counting the Fence Posts Home" reminds me of car rides home with my parents. I used to count the fence posts as we went by. I loved the way they appeared to nearly fly by as my Father would drive, not so much with my Mom. I knew how many posts were between certain neighbors. I liked the way they stood as little soldiers keeping guard on the fields. This painting is part of my "Ireland" series. These oil paintings are all done off of original photographs that I take while on residency in Ireland for 6-8 weeks a year. I travel the countryside looking to find adventure, new friends and amazing landscapes on the back roads. I grew up in the farmland of Iowa which is what holds my passion along with my families Irish ancestry.
