This ZUNI SNAKE EYES RiNG is kinda fabulous. It came out of a Tucson trading post and is a Fred Harvey era Treasure! It's sterling and has 5 turquoise snake eyes. Tiny round raindrops adorn the sides of the ring. Size 4-1/2. Original patina left.

ZUNI SNAKE EYES is a masterful lapidary style originally developed by Zuni Pueblo artists around the 1930s and 1940s. It's one of the most incredibly labor-intensive and meticulous techniques in Native American jewelry making.

Fred Harvey era jewelry was Made by Navajo and Zuni artisans and sold heavily in Harvey House gift shops and depot stores along the Santa Fe Railway.

In Southwestern cosmology, the serpent is a powerful symbol of water, transformation, guardianship and life. Because the tiny, round stones in the "snake eyes" pattern look like a serpent's watchful eyes, the design is traditionally viewed as a symbol of protection, awareness and maintaining balance.

✦ MARKS & MATERIAL: Stamped STERLING. Turquoise stones and sterling silver setting.

✦ CONDITION: This VINTAGE ZUNI SNAKE EYES RiNG is in VERY GOOD VINTAGE condition. The sterling setting is in the original condition with NO damage or dents. The turquoise stones are nicely rounded and intact. It has the riginal patina or tarnish but will shine up very nicely.
I like my treasures lookin' their age, so I've left it like I found it.

Please take care when cleaning vintage jewelry. No harsh chemicals and ABSOLUTELY NO IMMERSION in water! (Believe me, I've made that mistake n it ain't pretty) I've had great luck dry brushing jewelry with a soft bristle toothbrush. I also like to use a q-tip dipped in Windex to delicately clean n brighten the setting and stones.
