Did you know that you don’t need to send the “perfect” photo to me to get a great portrait painting that you love? Artists were put here to create! So, don’t stress if you don’t have the perfect photo! What’s not "perfect" can be transformed, what isn’t there can be imagined, what you don’t like can be painted away and whoever is missing can be added... Send me your favorite photos and we’ll create the perfect painting together. (That doesn’t mean you can’t send me a photo that you love! I’ll definitely be happy to paint that into a work of art, too!)
The pieces shown here are examples of previous work. Your portrait will be hand painted from your photo references using a digital brush and tablet. I combine traditional painting methods with a modern edge using the digital version of the mediums that I've worked in for decades: charcoal, pen and ink, pastels and watercolor. Your finished painting is printed using archival giclee inks on archival quality artist paper.

~~ You can choose to have your painting delivered with no mat or frame and have it framed to your taste and decor once it arrives.
~~ Choose a mat without a frame if you'd like to present the painting as a finished gift while still allowing the recipient to choose a frame for themselves. This is also a good option if you want to keep the piece protected until you decide on a frame at a later time.
MAT color choices are:
~ White
~ Cream
~ Black
~ Gray
This selection of neutral colors is designed to compliment any painting and decor. A proof will be sent beforehand, so you will have a chance to confirm or change your choices then.
~~ For a piece that is ready to hang when it arrives, you can choose to order your painting matted and framed.

~ Wood (natural, light brown, medium brown, dark brown or mahogany )
~~ Some paintings are nicely suited to being floated in a frame with no top mat to show the deckled edge of the artist paper, especially if the painting's background fades to white. Make sure to specify that you prefer this look when ordering.(See the picture of the Golden Retriever dog in the white frame.)
~~ If you prefer to have the artist select these mat and frame choices for you, please indicate that in your notes when ordering.
~~~ HOW TO ORDER ~~~
Choose your portrait Dimensions and Materials in the drop down menus. You can leave a note in the space provided with the order. Once you have placed your order and checked out, you will be able to send your photos and we can continue to communicate in the "Conversations" section here in the shop.
Please send photos that are:
~ Clear
~ Well lit, not too dark, too light or washed out
~ Show good detail of the subject's face
~ Show the personality of the subject
If in doubt about which photos would make the best portrait, choose your favorites and send more than one. Include any special notes, requests, or info that you feel is important about your photos, person or pet. Once these are received and reviewed, I will contact you for a brief consultation to decide the best direction to proceed with the painting.

~~~ WHAT YOU RECEIVE ~~~
You will receive a proof of the initial painting in progress before the final painting is finished. Any requests for revisions can be made at this time. A final proof will be sent for your approval before the painting is completed and shipped.
Framed paintings are shipped with hardware and are ready to hang. Your finished painting will be printed with archival quality giclee inks on archival quality artist paper. Mats are conservation quality and the glazing (glass) is an ultra-clear, conservation quality, non-reflective, acrylic glass, designed to block UV rays. These quality framing and matting materials ensure that your painting will last for generations without fading, yellowing, or becoming brittle.

The listed prices above are for one person or pet with a minimally detailed background. Add $50.00 for each additional pet and $100.00 for each additional person.
If a composite painting of two or more people or pets is required using multiple photographs, additional fees may be necessary depending upon the complexity of the project. In this case, I will contact you for a free consultation before any work is begun.

Because of the one of a kind nature of custom portraiture, every effort is made in the approval process to ensure complete satisfaction with your order. You will be given the chance to make any reasonable revisions at that time to your satisfaction.
If any materials are damaged or defective upon receipt, a replacement will be sent. Please note that these archival papers and inks are intended to last a lifetime; however, the integrity of your painting can't be ensured if left unprotected for long periods of time without a proper acid-free mat, frame and glazing because of exposure or damage caused by sun, moisture and/or environmental pollutants.
