VINTAGE ADVICE from SINGER SEWING MACHINE CO.in 1949.
"Prepare yourself mentally for sewing.
Think about what you are going to do...
Never approach sewing with a sigh or lackadaisically.
Good results are difficult when indifference predominates.
Never try to sew with a sink full of dishes, or beds unmade. When there are urgent household chores, do these first so your mind is free to enjoy your sewing. When you sew, make yourself as attractive as possible. Put on a clean dress.Keep a little bag of French chalk near your sewing machine to dust your fingers at intervals. Have your hair in order, powder and lipstick put on. If you are constantly fearful that a visitor will drop in or your husband will come home and you will not look neatly put together, you will not enjoy your sewing."
Tater Patch Quilts
Merrill, Oregon
This is listed primarily so others may enjoy what it says. If I went through all that process to get ready to sew I would have 1.) felt compelled to sew or 2.) never had time to sew. (And they forgot the part about finding the machine under the things of time) LOL
I searched on the internet and there is a Tater Patch Quilts store in Merrill, Oregon. This one was started in 200?. I have called them to try to find out more about the older store, if it existed, etc. I'll let you all know what I find out.
Meanwhile if you would like a copy of this quote I trust you will purchase it from me at the nominal price of $1.00 in a downloadable format..
I think we have a treasure here in what times were like 65 years ago!
Please note there are two downloads. The first is the same as shown in listing. The second is a Word document with quote. I'm not sure how well the photo will download, so using Word as a back-up. (This is my first download listing). PLEASE let me know how the downloads went. I NEED your feedback.
Thanks.
