Personlize your urn with names/dates or meaningful text, special imagery or colors, size and shape. Fully custom urns created with my design guidance are also available. Listings include size, weight, and capacity (volume in cubic inches) for each urn. To help customers select the appropriate sized urn for their needs, it is standard industry practice to allow one cubic inch per pound of body weight (i.e., 100 ci for an individual weighing 100 pounds or less). The dry weight calculation is 1 cup = 14.4 cubic inches.

Clean ceramic urns with a soft, damp cloth or dusting fabric. Clean biodegradable urns with soft cloth.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All ceramic urns are double-boxed to ensure safety during transit. I use only biodegradable fill and recyclable plastic bubble and cardboard packing materials. I am happy to include a note card with a special message per request.

Ceramic urns may be sealed or left unsealed for future scattering. To permanently seal your ceramic urn, squeeze a few drops of clear epoxy such as E6000 onto the flange, and insert into base. Wipe off any excess epoxy with a clean cloth.

Playful and elegant, Companion Whale Urn is perfect for a person who weighed over 200 lbs or two people who wish to be released together. Whale Urn may also be displayed in your home as a unique artwork and will remain beautifully intact until it contacts water.

Whale Urn float time will vary depending on the weight of the ashes, weather, and water conditions. Federal burial at sea guidelines require that cremated remains be scattered at least three nautical miles from land. *This urn was designed for a minimum of 200 ci (200 - 350 lbs combined weight); a smaller portion of ashes may cause longer float time.*

Please use a water-soluble, non-toxic glue (Elmer's or similar) to seal the urn per instructions.*

This urn was designed by me and handmade in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico by skilled artisans using recycled paper and plant-based glue. It is 100% biodegradable and non-toxic to sea life. Your purchase helps provide jobs with a living wage for artisans working in a traditional art form.

This was one of several urns that I purchased from this seller. They all arrived packaged well and delivered on time as promised. I chose this whale mainly due to my brothers size and his Orca personality. I know without a doubt that he will lead all of my family members remains to their final resting place. Although it is bittersweet I know the send off that I am planning will be another memory that I will cherish forever.

I feel so fortunate to have stumbled on Laura's website. When I saw a picture of the Companion Whale Urn, I knew instantly that it was the right "vessel" to carry my parents' ashes into the sea. The whale performed exactly as Laura predicted; namely, it floated for about 5 minutes, then breached and gradually sank into the water. It was the sweetest, most perfect, finish to my parents' wonderful life. Thank you, Laura, for all your talent and loving guidance for this special occasion.

We ordered this beautiful whale urn to honor my father who died in the bay that he loved. We received the order very quickly, and even though we couldn't bring ourselves to open it for weeks, when we did the beauty of the urn took our breath away. It was perfect. The instructions that were sent along were clear and easy to follow and made the process so much easier for us. My father was a tall man and even though this whale is meant for two it held him very nicely. Everyone loved it and when we finally let him go back in the bay the whale swam beautifully, diving down just like a real whale with one last goodbye of the tail. It was really beautiful and I would highly recommend this urn. It was so pretty that we almost wanted to keep it on the mantle. Thank you for making such a beautiful, thoughtful piece.
