**The story**
The History of Trees shawl is inspired by the book 'Bark skins' by Annie Proulx. A fictional work about the state of the North American forests from the 17th century to 2013. The book really appealed to me, so I tried to represent the state of the forests in the shawl with three different 'chapters', which each use their own stitch and color (and combination).

Each pattern in the collection is inspired by a book and the pattern is always accompanied by extra text that hopefully captures the feel of the book.

**This pattern consists of**
- written instructions with photos where necessary
- crochet charts for each chapter
- Stitch counts for each row, so you always know you're doing it right. No more lashing out!
- At the end of the CAL I put everything together in a PDF and email it together with a printer-friendly version.

**Techniques used**
- All stitches are inspired by trees and each chapter has its own stitch -> v-stitches, relief stitches and filet crochet.
- standard stitches: ss, ch, sc, hdc, dc.
- Special stitches: dtr, dtr, rel. dst, rel. dst
- Special techniques: pick up another color on the side of your work, so you don't have to cut the thread every time (explained with photos, text and link to tutorial).

**Yarn**
Scheepjes Stone Washed (regular, not XL), 130m/50g:
- 5 x Shade A: 825, Malachite (243g/632m used)
- 4 x Color B: 819, New Jade (169g/440m used)
