Description of Cyanotype Process
The cyanotype process is a photographic process. Two chemicals, ammonium iron(lll) citrate and potassium ferricyanide, are combined to create a UV light sensitive solution. The solution is applied to a surface like paper. An object is placed on the treated surface and exposed to a UV light source, like the sun. After a certain amount of time the object is removed and the paper is rinsed in water. This stops the developing process and creates a permanent image. Places on the print that are white blocked the light from coming through. Areas in blue are places where light was able to penetrate the object or bend around the object. This type of photograph is called a photogram. It is a true to life image of whatever has been placed on the paper.

Care of cyanotype prints on paper
Cyanotypes are unique in that they prefer acidic conditions. Alkaline conditions will cause bleaching and fading of the image. Use only unbuffered, pH neutral or acid free matting, front and back, for framing your print.

Direct sunlight will cause fading of the print. Do not display print in a location that will receive direct sunlight. Should fading occur because of exposure to sunlight place the print in a dark location and within a few days the print will darken back to its original color.

All items ready to ship. All items larger than 9 x 12 ship Priority mail with tracking and insurance. Prints smaller than 9 x 12 ship First Class with tracking. Please check the shipping address on your account before you order to ensure that the package is shipped to the correct address. Buyer pays to reship an item returned to seller if address provided is incorrect.

Prints smaller than 16 x 20 ship in a plastic sleeve with backing in a flat mailer.
Prints larger than 16 x 20 ship rolled in cardboard mailing box.

I may use clean recycled materials for packing and shipping as needed.

Orders over $100.00 ship with signature confirmation.

Contact seller within five days of delivery if requesting a refund. Items must be returned within 14 days for a full refund, less original shipping costs. Items must be unworn, unwashed and with original label still attached. Please return item with the all original packing material. Buyer pays for return shipping, including tracking and insurance. Refund issued upon return to seller. Seller unable to issue refund for items being returned that are lost in the postal system. Items returned damaged will be refunded less the loss in value.
Please be aware that the cyanotype process on fabric has specific washing instructions. If you have any questions, please contact the seller. Improper washing of the treated fabric constitutes as damage

The cyanotype process is simple in theory, however each print is a surprise in actuality. Due to the unique qualities of the process please allow for natural variations. Each print or scarf is an original one of kind cyanotype made by hand and can not be exactly replicated. I have done my best to represent the item as accurately as possible, however please allow that individual screens may display color differently.
I do my best to accurately identify each botanical specimen. I include both the Latin name and the common name of the plant. In some cases I am not able to identify the specimen.
Each print or scarf is an original Cyanotype photograph, not a digital reproduction or monotype.
