Herbal Shampoo Soap, Rosemary Honey w. silk

Coconut oil is used for hardness, bubbly lather, and long lasting properties. Olive oil is used to allow breath-ability and protective properties, and castor oil provides creamy silky lather as well as extra glycerin for protective and moisturizing properties. Jojoba is said to aid with damaged hair. Raw silk is added to the lye water, dissolved, and may bring protein in the picture.

Rosemary Honey adds strong rosemary leaf tea, honey for extra lather and benefits to the hair, avocado oil lends vitamins, and essential oil of rosemary is added for scent. Rosemary loves the hair! A bit of comfrey powder is added for softness and a gentle exfoliate to the scalp and hair.

If you have hard water, you will want to use an acidic rinse (or conditioner) as your final rinse. After shampooing and rinsing out your hair, pour a very diluted (1-2 tsp. apple cider vinegar, lemon or lime juice, etc.) in warm water over your scalp and hair. This makes water soluble those minerals left in your hair after rinsing, leaving your hair silky soft, manageable, and feather light. If you have soft water - yay for you! Just wash your hair and go!

Handmade soaps are made to last! If you allow them to dry out between uses, your soaps will last a longer time. Placing your soap on a slotted soap dish, dry washcloth, and placed away from the tub when not in use is ideal.
