I loved this kit! It was my first attempt at this style of embroidery, and the stitch instruction booklet was fantastic! The missing star is because the dark blue fabric/pattern is reverse printed, meaning that the fabric is white with the blue printed on. This means that every place the needle punches up through the fabric, the hole shows a little bit of white from where undyed fabric/thread is exposed. From a bit of distance you don't notice it, but up close it shows and detracts from the finished piece. I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue with lighter background colors. You can also minimize the problem by being thoughtful about where you bring your thread up from the back for each stitch (placing the second hole of the stitch at the more exposed side of whatever element you're working on), but this isn't always possible.

A fantastic kit! It came beautifully packaged and all the pieces were attractively arranged in the box. It has everything you need to get started with embroidery. The pattern and colors were beautiful. The little booklet looks so professional and has so many great pictures and tips- a fantastic guide to stitching. The booklet even has instructions to back the hoop which I will be doing soon. My only thing was I ran out of one color thread- perhaps it was something I was doing. But the exact color was provided in the pattern so it was easy to find more. I would definitely buy from Hoffelt and Hooper again!
