Rare Vintage Primitive ANTIQUE ALUMINUM KETTLE Coil Handle Pot Collectible Aluminum Cookware Antique Metal Made by National Aluminum Works.

If only this kettle could talk! If ANYONE knows any information regarding the maker of this fine specimen, PLEASE let me know.

This UNIQUE kettle is QUITE the FIND! If you collect antique aluminum cookware, this piece is a MUST HAVE!

As far as history on this kettle: After much research, I was able to find on the internet an article talking about how the Aluminum Utensil Co. (who used the Wear-Ever trademark) sued National Aluminum Works (the maker of this kettle), due to the wording that National used on their products (“Everlasting Ware”).

As you can see, the mark on the bottom is an eagle with arrows in its talons. I can make out “EVERLASTING WARE, WELLSVILLE, NEW YORK, USA” very clearly. It is also stamped “99% PURE”. The Aluminum Utensil Co. sued because they believed that National Aluminum Works was trying to TRICK the public into thinking that the pieces marked “EVERLASTING WARE” were somehow connected to “Wear-Ever,” in order to get more sales.

As I was unable to find another piece on the internet with these marks, I believe this kettle MAY be ONE OF A KIND and VERY RARE!

I do not know this kettle’s EXACT age, but I believe it is probably from the late 1800s or possibly VERY early 1900s. National Aluminum Works burned down in January of 1914, but I was unable to find out when the company originally opened for business.

It is both RUSTY and CRUSTY, as is to be expected in a piece this old. There are no holes. The handles are firmly attached to the kettle.

The kettle weighs approximately 1 pound, without packaging. It measures approximately 13.5” tall (with coil handle in straight up position) x 13” wide (from outside edge of spout to outside edge of side handle) x 6.5” deep. It is made of aluminum, with steel handles. The kettle holds 2 gallons (32 cups) of liquid (filled to the top rim). So it is quite large.

For a bit of history on ALUMINUM, the following is a quote from the website at www.aluminum.org:

“1887: Austrian engineer Karl Josef Bayer developed a chemical process by which alumina can be extracted from bauxite, a widespread and naturally occurring aluminum ore. Both the Bayer and Hall-Herout processes are still used today to produce nearly all the world’s aluminum.”

Thank you for looking. Please ask, if you have ANY questions.
