Here's another in my range* of handmade minimalist style stackers in sterling silver and solid 14 karat gold.

This one features a pitch black Australian sapphire, 3.1mm in diameter and weighing 0.15 carats. It was earth-mined at Glen Innes in New South Wales, and is 100% natural and untreated, a connoisseur stone, flawless internally and externally. Like all very dark gems it shows no luster at all, just mirror polished black surfaces like a miniature black hole.

The 1.5mm diameter x 1.5 gram band is made from sterling silver. It's a round profile with a hand hammered, lightly oxidised texture over its outside surface. The bezel holding the sapphire is solid 14 karat gold. It measures 3.7mm wide x 3mm high. This leaves the top surface of the gem sitting around 4mm above the top of the wearer's finger, making it a very 'low profile' design suitable for everyday wear.

Presentation for the ring includes a hinge-lid gift box lined with colour coordinated Japanese Unryu papers. Unryu is a handmade designer paper that contains strands of plant fiber for colour and contrast - very pretty. Dressing up my jewellery for display and gift-giving is one of my favourite parts of the Etsy process.
