Do you make Custom Blends?

We do! Please email us at apothecary@herbsandcbd.com with the herbs that you would like in your formula, in what proportions, and what size bottle you would like. We offer custom blends in 16oz, 32oz, 64oz, and 128oz bottles.

Can you recommend a product for me?

Due to FDA regulations, we are legally unable to make product or treatment recommendations. Please understand that we are not healthcare practitioners and the best way to find a treatment plan for you is to work with a qualified herbal practitioner.

What is this herb used for?

Again, due to FDA regulations, we do not discuss herbal uses. Consider this an opportunity to learn something new :) We have learned so much from the work of Stephen Buhner, Rosemary Gladstar, Ricoh Chech, Sajah Popham, and many more.

How much should I take?

Each bottle lists recommended dosages.

How long will the Buhner Starter Package last?

The starter package is intended to last 2 months based on Buhner's recommendations from the first edition of "Healing Lyme" in which he suggests ramping up to a final dose that feels right for you. Many customers start with the package and if they choose to continue the protocol, they purchase the individual herbs from us, but in larger quantities. What is the shelf life of your products?

Tinctures are shelf stable for 5 years. We recommended storing tinctures in a cool dark place to maintain potency. Glycerites are shelf stable for 2 years, stored in a cool dark place. Salves are shelf stable for 2 years, and decreases once the salve has been opened.

Can I place an order over the phone?

We are unable to process orders via phone. Please either place your order through the website, Etsy shop, or by emailing apothecary@herbsandcbd.com. This is the best way to ensure that your order is processed in a timely manner.

In order to bring you the most effective and potent tinctures we possibly can, Susquehanna Botanicals sources our plants, fungi, and herbs meticulously. We prioritize local, foraged ingredients that are harvested regeneratively. When this isn’t possible, we’ll source from a Certified Organic farm. As a last resort, we’ll make sure the source is GAP certified.

We are proud to offer 400+ single herb tinctures, but due to FDA regulations are unable to make recommendations. If you are feeling uncertain about which tincture to purchase, we strongly encourage our customers to empower themselves with knowledge by reading the latest scientific research re: herbalism and their ailment/desired outcome, seeking ancestral wisdom, and asking others in the community about their personal experiences with specific herbal remedies.

The taste of each tincture varies with each herb or mushroom. They are alcohol-based and slightly sweet due to the addition of vegetable glycerin.

HOW TO TAKE A TINCTURE
Squeeze the recommended dosage amount (shown on bottle) directly into the mouth using the provided dropper and swallow immediately. Alcohol-based tinctures are more comfortably taken atop the tongue, rather than underneath. Many customers prefer to dilute tinctures with a small amount of water in a stout glass, while others mix them into smoothies, juice, or tea.

HOW WE MAKE OUR TINCTURES
Tinctures are alcohol-based liquid supplements that use specific solvents to extract the benefits from a plant or herb. Rather than standardizing our extraction process, we use a highly specified method for tinctures that incorporates three different solvents, which allows us to honor the integrity of each distinctive herb or plant. We source our ingredients meticulously, prioritizing organic or ethically wildcrafted sources first. Once we receive our material, our skilled production team gets to work carefully crafting our tinctures using this triple-extraction method, and following our herbalist-formulated recipes down to the milliliter.

We are a small team of herbalists, foragers, permaculturists, and outdoors people based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We create all of our products in small batches, with reverence and love for the Earth and all of her inhabitants.
