This beautiful French braid quilt Is an updated version of an old traditional pattern. It uses eight dark fabrics and eight light fabrics to achieve a scrappy, modern look. The braids fit perfectly on top of the bed and the beautiful twisted ribbon border makes the drop sides very dramatic. The quilt is completed with a scrappy binding.

Instructions for a queen size (95 x 95), twin (90 long x 72 wide), and king (95 long x 112 wide) are included. The queen size and twin are pictured.

In choosing fabrics, be sure to vary the shade and scale of the prints to make the quilt interesting. Sharp contrast between the light and dark fabrics helps to emphasize the braid effect. You can purchase fabrics or maybe just pull fabrics from your stash.

The pattern gives very detailed instructions and includes many pictures to help you make this heirloom quality quilt. It's so addictive that you'll want to make more than one! I have two shown in the pictures.

Although the pattern may look difficult, it's actually easy enough for a very confident beginning quilter ( as long as you can follow directions), an intermediate, or an experienced quilter. This is sure to become one of your favorite patterns!
