How do I get MY pet's whisker to you?

My whisker mailing address is provided after check out. An automated email receipt will be sent with my shipping information and I'll notify you upon their safe arrival! (Zip locks work great for transport as well as old pill containers.)

How many whiskers do I need to send?

Each of my listings notes a recommended number of whiskers to send. Each setting requires a different number depending on the setting size. (If you're short a whisker or two, no worries! Most settings look amazing even with 1 whisker!) ^..^ Any whiskers or whisker portions not included in the jewelry setting will be returned to you with your finished jewel.

How long does it take to make a whisker jewel?

I can create most personalized whisker keepsakes within 7-10 days of whisker receipt. (Notification will be sent upon whisker arrival as well as jewel completion with insured shipping.) Items requiring more work time have notations in their product descriptions.

Can I hand deliver my whiskers to you?

Yes, you can! I attend several events throughout the year that are listed in my 'Shop Announcements'. If you're local to any of these event, please feel free to pop by!

Can you make keepsakes with ashes?

Yes, I can, and would be honored. Most settings only require about 1/2 a teaspoon and you can also add a background color. Feel free to message me with any concerns. *Etsy does not allow use of human cremains on their platform. Please contact me directly via email at volanakote@gmail.com to get a keepsake made in honor of a special someone.

Is this jewelry waterproof?

Whiskers, ashes and fur are all safely set and sealed with a crystal clear jeweler's grade epoxy resin that's formulated for high resistance to light exposure and UV rays from the sun. The resin coating is extremely durable, waterproof, heat & chemical resistant.

Can I wear my jewelry in the shower?

As a general rule, it is recommended to remove all your jewelry before you take a shower. Keeping it in a safe, dry place will help preserve its beauty and integrity for a long time. Wearing solid gold jewelry, white gold or yellow gold, in the shower will not harm the metal itself, however it can reduce the shine therefore it is not recommended. Sterling Silver jewelry tarnishes when it is exposed to moisture and sulfur in the air but can easily be removed with a polishing cloth. Showering with gold plated jewelry can eventually cause the gold layer to wear off completely, therefore you should definitely refrain from doing so. (Soaps, oils, and lotions tend to leave a film on jewelry, effectively dulling their sparkle.)

How should I clean my jewelry?

Please avoid harsh chemicals. I personally use Sunshine Polishing cloths to safely clean just about everything! Recommended for gold, silver, brass, and copper - sunshine cloths are pre-treated with a high-quality, micro-abrasive polishing compound that shines metals right up.

Can I send dog/ferret/horse/pig/goat whiskers?

Create the ultimate wearable tribute honoring your own four footed friend! Your pet's naturally fallen whiskers will be carefully custom set into our 14mm round bezel or 13 mmx18 mm oval cups and sealed with a waterproof epoxy resin and glass cabochon. Each piece is created under the watchful eye of our twin feline rescues. (They both have glorious whiskers!)

We accept naturally fallen whiskers only. Whiskers are deeply rooted and rich in blood vessels and nerve endings. Vibrissae (whiskers) are very sensitive and should never be pulled or plucked out. (Trimmed whiskers are acceptable only upon a pet’s transition.) Great places to find your pet's fallen whiskers are on staircases, woven fabrics and in their bedding. 5-7 whiskers are required per cuff link set and whisker shipping information will be forwarded upon check out. (Ready-made whiskers jewels are available too. Just make a note at checkout that you'd prefer a pre-made set.) These setting will accommodate ashes as well.

Each piece is custom made with love and care within approximately 14 days of whisker receipt. These tributes are made with jewelry grade resin and precautions are taken to prevent any inclusions. Because each piece is so incredibly unique, all custom orders are final and non returnable but I'm happy to discuss any concerns.
