Long Necklace Signed M. Haskell With Tags 1980s Early 90s Era Costume Jewelry
ITEM: With a mix of design elements, Wood, brass, ceramics and knit beads, this opera length necklace has it’s original tag still on it, the label reads M. Haskell and dates to 1980s, sold in department stores in the day. A mix of chain and bronze colored ribbons are the balance of the design. A lobster claw clasp secures the Necklace well. There is a weighted extension chain as well. The design is asymmetrical and the mix of elements creates a very pleasing textiles effect that benefits greatly from the natural elements of wood, seed and ceramic beads. The pop of color comes from the knit covered turquoise colored beads. This is a very attractive necklace with a very recognized name attached. I’m not sure who bought the name after her death but Miriam Haskell is certainly a very well loved name in jewelry design. This one still with it’s tags attached would suggest it was never worn. I think it high time we change that because it really is a pretty piece and deserves to be worn!
SIZE: Very long necklace at 36” with 2” extension chain.
CONDITION: In Like New Condition with tags still attached. A bit of fluff here or there from long term storage of old stock. No missing stones or elements, no broken chain or hardware, no rust or verdigris noted. The ribbon is in pretty good shape, free of snags and malleable, not stiff. A bit of age related edge fraying, extremely light or minor wear. Clasp intact and functional. An attractive design from a well known label.
