ෆ For the best laser engraving results, we highly recommend choosing light-colored leathers (Cinnamon Brown, Mahogany Brown, Turquoise Green, or Aqua Green).

ෆ Yes! Logo/artwork can be engraved anywhere in the journal, but in only one surface.

✳ There are marks and scratches on my journal. Is this a defect?
ෆ No, marks and scratches on leather are not defects. These are on the leather by its nature. PEGAI only uses minimal finishes on these leathers to accentuate the hide grain's natural beauty and embrace the imperfect elegance of nature's intention.
ෆ These finish types do NOT cover any imperfections such as bug bites, veins, fence scratches, and other markings that tell a story about the animal's life. To us, leather is a living object, and it has to be treated with respect at all stages of this crafting process.
ෆ Please also note that our products are prone to scratches. Kindly refer to our leather care tips below to maintain the longevity of your Pegai products.

We tan only the cleanest and responsibility sourced heavy steer hides to perfection with our 5 decades old tanning recipes.

We give the top layer a slight buff to achieve the nubuck look with a pleasant velvety feature. Then we infuse our secret combination of waxes to make this leather interactive to touch. The end result is a minimally finished full grain hide that will age beautifully with use.

Enjoy and embrace the nature of leather that hasn’t been scrapped of its character for the sake of standardization and mass-manufacturing!

BRAND'S STORY: PEGAI was established in 2017 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Their Chief Craftsman, Tanner Leatherstein, found that there is a lack of knowledge about leather in the general public. Not everyone knows how to assess if the leather is good or if it’s perfect for their needs. PEGAI addresses this problem in two ways.

Through offering them examples of what good leather craftsmanship is under PEGAI. They created the brand to help people make a statement through premium leather goods in the most authentic and stylish way possible. Their hope is that people can enjoy leather in its natural beauty and lessen the gap between their expectations and experiences about leather.

Through giving small craftsmen the opportunity to use the same leather that we use. PEGAI gave small craftsmen and hobbyists access to all of their unique, most beautiful, cleanest, and rarest leather hides. This is available in their other brand: Tannerstein.
