I designed this pattern after finishing a few items that were so complicated that I had to stay glued to the pattern sheet. Where, I sometimes love these complicated looks, sometimes I just want something I can knit brainlessly while I side on the couch with my husband. So, when I drafted out this sweater, I was really looking for that simplicity, but with a finished look that still had structure and interesting elements. With an easy pattern repeat and easy shaping for the collar, this is a piece that you can easily just pick up and GO!
Using a brick path near my home, I planned out this cardigan to kinda have the look of a brick wall or path, hence the name.
The collar is knit all while you’re making the front panels, so you don’t have to worry about doing that bit of finishing after you seam the pieces together. I don’t really love picking up and knitting ribbing for collars, so this pattern eliminates that need!
The cardigan is an oversized medium, but it looks nice and slightly fitted for someone who wears either large or extra large. It depends on how you like to wear your cardigans.
I used Caron One Pound yarn in the color Denim. It took 1.25 - 1.5 skeins. This yarn is a weight 4 worsted/Aran weight yarn, so if you decide to try out a different yarn, make sure you swatch it.
