Part of our project at Made with Love Urban Farm is to rescue the unwanted fruit in our local eco-system and turn it into gorgeous preserves to care for this naturally abundant harvest. Secwepemcúĺecw has abundant fruit and has historically been a fruit farm agricultural zone to settlers. So many abandoned fruit trees exist and wild fruit is in abundance along the river and lake shores in the Shuswap. We grow many fruits organically in our own permaculture food forest... peach, nectarine, heritage green gage plum, apple, pear, cherry, rowan, mulberry, wild cherry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, blueberry, spruce berry, tamarack berry, fir tips & cones, black huckleberry, red and black currant, saskatoon berry, apricot, just to name a few... and we harvest only unsprayed, natural, wild and rescue fruit that has been grown organically.
