The art of Turkish Carpets that started with Seljuks in Anatolia in the 13th century was developed in the 15th century, flourishing especially in the 16th century.
Certain type of Carpets (Rugs) exported to the West have become known by the names of European painters who offen portrayed them.
They have been included in Carpet (rugs) literature as Holbein,Lotto,Crivelli,Memling and bellini Carpets (rugs).
Although Ottoman Carpet manufacturing became intens in many regions, the most important center is Ushak, (Oushak ) where they were giant looms.
Bergama is another important center.
Konya, which was famous as the artistic center of Seljuk period, has also maintained its importance to Carpet ( rugs) manufacture !
