Will Picture Perfect Decals’ fabric mural decals stick to my walls?

Picture Perfect Decals' fabric decal designs have the ability to stick to multiple surfaces and textures. We have conducted tests to see how well the decals stick to textures such as orange peel, knock-down, and cinder blocks. All three textures had no problem holding the decals. Your walls must be painted. Bare cinder blocks or bare drywall with no paint or primer will not work. The material manufacturer does indicate that occasionally eggshell paint on textured surfaces causes the adhesive to fail. We at Picture Perfect Decals have applied fabric wall decals to eggshell paint many times with nothing but success. But we do feel it necessary to mention this possible problem simply because the manufacturer has noted it.

Can I place decals above a baby's crib?

It is important to realize that many variables can affect the success of a decal. Specifically extreme wall textures, new paint, dust, residue and user application error. For this reason we cannot recommend that the fabric decals be applied above a baby's crib in a position that if they were to fall off they would land into the crib and cause a suffocation hazard. The probability of this happening is extremely low but a baby should never be put at risk for the sake of decor.

Wait 30 days after painting walls!

Walls should be primed and painted and then allowed to dry for a minimum of 30 days before applying Picture Perfect Decals. Walls that have been painted less than 30 days are still out-gassing and may result in the decals falling off of the wall. Walls that have not been primed before painted risk paint peeling when the decals are removed. Picture Perfect Decals is not responsible for any paint removal issues that may arise. We have conducted many tests and by following our instructions you should not experience any problems.

Wall Cleaning Preparation

It is vitally important that your walls are wiped down well and removed of any dust or residue. Use a warm wet washcloth with plain water to wipe down your walls and then allow to dry thoroughly. Do not use any cleaning products such as Windex to wipe down your walls. The residue that these products leave behind will cause failure of your decals. If you absolutely need to use a little soap please ensure at that you have washed away the soap thoroughly and allow to dry completely before applying decals.

Appling Fabric Decals

Peel decal off the backing paper. At times the fabric decals may still be connected to the background by a thread that did not completely cut. This is normal and the decal should pull free with minimal effort. Occasionally a spot does not easily pull free. If this happens, use scissors to carefully cut the decal free. Once your decal is removed from the backing, stick it on the clean wall and smooth into place making sure to press all edges completely down. Repeat until all of your decals are in place. Larger decals may require two people to ensure it doesn't fold onto itself. If a decal does stick to itself, no worries! It can be gently pulled apart with no damage. If there are bubbles or wrinkles, just peel back that area and re-apply.

Fabric decals can be repositioned many times, however, once the adhesive collects too much dust, dirt or fibers it will become less effective. Only apply to clean dry surfaces to ensure they stick through multiple moves.
