This listing is for one, 20 meter skein of Fujix thread. There are 5 colors available. Please choose the color that you wish to purchase from the drop down box.

These threads were hand-dyed in kakishibu. Kakishibu or "persimmon tannin" is created from unripe persimmon astringent that has been fermented and aged. This imparts the thread with beautiful, natural tan, brown and reddish tones. The dye also acts as an insect deterrent and prevents mold from forming on dyed fabrics. Fishing nets, stencil paper and sakebukuro are often dyed with kakishibu due to these reasons.

Please note that this is a hand dyed thread that is dyed with a natural, plant dye and the color will vary from lot to lot. The thread also has a wonderful "variegated" look due to the dying process. The color of the thread will gradually change due to exposure to ultra-violet rays, oxidation, temperature,and humidity.

This thread is 100% cotton and made in Japan. It is slightly thinner than the Olympus sashiko thread that I offer. These Fujix threads are a size 6. They can be used for sashiko, boro projects, embroidery or hand sewing.
