This listing is for a PDF reproduction of two editions of the rare "Home Sewing Helps" book published by the Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts and Sciences in 1924 and 1929. This book is profusely illustrated with gorgeous, instructive illustrations by Alice Seipp. It was part of a six book set of large format dressmaking books published in 1924-25. (All books are now available in the Woman's Institute section of my shop!) See photos for the full table of contents.
These books are full of tips and inspiration for everyday practical sewing, remaking clothing, sewing for children, making your own lingerie, embellishing projects, ribbon and flower trimmings, embroidery touches for linens, aprons, gift ideas, and more. As with many of the Woman's Institute reissues of booklets, the two editions share a small amount of content, but much of the material is different, so having both editions provides a lot of additional project ideas!
The 1924 edition is 53 pages and the 1929 version is 66 pages, including covers and endmatter. Both have been scanned in full color. The 1929 edition has been split into three files to meet the Etsy file size requirements. I'm happy to email it as a single file as well--just write me a note with your desired email address when you check out.
These magazine would be of interest to the collector, the vintage inspired sewist and the fashion historian.
