Materials

cotton canvas, bottom weight, twill, denim, duck, non stretch, selvedge denim, selvage denim, corduroy, canvas

The Philippa pants sewing pattern was created out of a need for simple but sturdy tapered leg trousers, slim fitting and high waisted. The side seams are completely straight, just as jeans and pants were typically made in the 1930’s and ‘40s. The straight side seams make this pattern perfect for selvedge denim, which is a type of denim woven on narrow looms. The Philippa pants include waist shaping at the front/back, two back darts and features a classic button fly, back pockets and belt loops. The pant length ends at the ankle, but can be lengthened or shortened as desired. This pattern is drafted for woven non-stretch fabrics.

SEWING LEVEL: Advanced

PLEASE NOTE: While the actual sewing of these pants is very similar to the skill level of the Persephone pants, the fitting process for a tapered pant makes these more suitable for advanced sewers. If you are a beginner at garment sewing, it is not recommended that you start with the Philippa pants unless your measurements match up with a straight size (you might want to try the Persephone pants first).

SIZES: 00-22

PATTERN INCLUDES:
- Sewing instructions with clear illustrations for each step
- Print-at-home pattern
- Map + Key (Map for the print-at-home version with a list of pages to print for each size and a key to the symbols and markings used in the pattern.)
- Copy shop pattern including both US and A0 page sizes
- Pants Alteration Guide. This includes some of the more common alterations, as well as how and where to take your measurements, how to sew a test muslin with a zipper, grading between sizes and how fabric will affect the fit of your garment.

When you purchase this pattern, you will receive a digital (pdf) sewing pattern and instructions. Once your payment processes, you will automatically receive a link to download the pattern files. If you have any problem accessing the files, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

PRINTING YOUR PDF PATTERN
After downloading the files to your computer, you can print out the pattern using your home printer. The pattern pages are formatted to fit US standard page size (8.5” x 11”) as well as A4 page size (8.26” x 11.69”). Be sure the printer settings are set to “actual size” and only print the first page that includes the test square before printing the rest of the pattern. Measure the test square with a ruler to be sure the pattern pages will print accurately. If the measurements are correct, go ahead and print the entire pattern. Assemble the printed pattern by cutting out the pattern pieces and matching them together by the letters and numbers that are marked on each pattern (“1A” to “1A”, “1B” to “1B” etc.) and then taping them together.
