Philippa Pants - PDF Sewing Pattern Sizes 00-22

  • Digital download
  • Digital file type(s): 1 ZIP

The Philippa pants sewing pattern was created out of a need for simple but sturdy tapered leg trousers, slim fitting and high waisted. The side seams are completely straight, just as jeans and pants were typically made in the 1930’s and ‘40s. The straight side seams make this pattern perfect for selvedge denim, which is a type of denim woven on narrow looms. The Philippa pants include waist shaping at the front/back, two back darts and features a classic button fly, back pockets and belt loops. The pant length ends at the ankle, but can be lengthened or shortened as desired. This pattern is drafted for woven non-stretch fabrics.

PLEASE NOTE: While the actual sewing of these pants is very similar to the skill level of the Persephone pants, the fitting process for a tapered pant makes these more suitable for advanced sewers. If you are a beginner at garment sewing, it is not recommended that you start with the Philippa pants unless your measurements match up with a straight size (you might want to try the Persephone pants first).

When you purchase this pattern, you will receive a digital (pdf) sewing pattern and instructions. Once your payment processes, you will automatically receive a link to download the pattern files. If you have any problem accessing the files, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

After downloading the files to your computer, you can print out the pattern using your home printer. The pattern pages are formatted to fit US standard page size (8.5” x 11”) as well as A4 page size (8.26” x 11.69”). Be sure the printer settings are set to “actual size” and only print the first page that includes the test square before printing the rest of the pattern. Measure the test square with a ruler to be sure the pattern pages will print accurately. If the measurements are correct, go ahead and print the entire pattern. Assemble the printed pattern by cutting out the pattern pieces and matching them together by the letters and numbers that are marked on each pattern (“1A” to “1A”, “1B” to “1B” etc.) and then taping them together.

Wow!!! Love this pattern. The directions were very precise and clear. Please grade the pattern for your measurements. I also used stretch jean fabric (1% spandex) which made them fit a little larger. It gives you the boyfriend jean feel. I love the straight leg verses skinny jean or bell bottom jean. I made minor adjustments for my booty :-) and cut them a little longer 4 inches for a roll cuff. Thanks for an Awesome pattern. Can you please do an add on for deep front pockets.

I really like this pattern. Definitely make a muslin first so you can make adjustments for your body. These turned out so cute and flattering and comfortable. The instructions were easy to follow and the fit adjustment suggestions were really helpful. I recommend this pattern.

So far I've just sewn my test muslin but I'm writing this review because I'm so impressed with how well it fits me. I'm 4'11" - I cut Size 00, shortened the crotch length on both sides by about 1 inch and the overall pant length by 3 inches. I made no changes to the other measurements. The test muslin sat (and looked) great on me, and it was comfortable to move and sit in them. So happy with this and can't wait to sew my actual final pair!

These were the first pants I’ve ever sewn, and the instructions in this pattern were perfect! Steps were easy to follow and the illustrations clarified any doubts I had. If you’re ready to tackle a pants-project, use an AnnaAllen pattern. The resulting pants are cute and comfy, and the process of making them was actually kinda fun. Highly recommended.
