Cyanotype on aquarella paper /
Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic noble printing processes. It is based on the reaction of certain iron salts, which harden under the influence of ultraviolet light, thus forming the typical cyano-blue hues. Watercolour paper is usually used as the carrier material. The manufacturing process can be described as a combination of photography and classic printing. It is precisely through the highly detailed reproduction of the motifs on the one hand and the structure of the paper on the other hand that the cyanotypes have their very own effect.
Each print is traditionally handmade in our photo lab. Each watercolor paper is individually sensitized, dried, exposed, washed out and fixed. Some of the motifs used are our own photographs, which are further processed by us to the contact negatives required for the process. In addition to travel photographs, the main focus in the selection of motifs is on the diverse shapes, patterns and geometries that can be found in nature and architecture.
Frames and Passepartouts /
The frames and passe-partouts are also made by us and can be ordered together with the prints. The effect of the oak wood as well as the structure and color of the passe-partout are matched to the blue tones of the motifs. The frame set includes a matching glass pane, a rear wall and a suspension. The frame profiles can be found in the drawings in the product photo gallery.
We offer this motif in different sizes. The frames can be purchased either according to the size of the motif or in oversize with attached passe-partout. In the product photos, a 20 cm x 30 cm print is shown in a frame of the size 30 cm x 40 cm with passepartout.
Further motifs and frame sizes, than those offered by us, can be requested from us.
