Highlights
This wooden stick horse is for the child that loves action. The horse is made from 1 1/2" pine and is soft to touch with the thick mane and soft leather ears. The "bit" securely holds the real leather reins so when the giddy-up and whoa commands are given the rider is in full control. The wooden horse measures 32" from the top of the head to the bottom of the stick.
Black is painted black with child safe paint and is currently being shipped with black eyes. The brown ones are stained.

This was my second purchase. Due to residual odor from the finish, I had to wait several weeks before giving it to our grandchild, but the maker assured me that the finishes used are safe. I know that even VOC-free paint and stain can have an odor so I wasn't too concerned. Once the smell had dissipated, the stick horse became a favorite plaything.
(I purchased this with one in black. The review stands for both!)
I love them both! The craftsmanship is beautiful and seems very durable; the coloring on the black is uniform and looks carefully-done, and the palomino in the plain wood has its grain beautifully showcased. They both have generous, fluffy manes and adorable details that really show a love for the work they came from. I can't wait to hopefully give these to my kids one day - for now, they're probably my favorite odd wedding decor i've purchased and will make noble steeds at our makeshift joust!
