Do you offer combined shipping?

Yes, The first piece is $3 to ship and each additional item will just increase the shipping by $1. The reduced shipping will show up in the cart.

Is there any maintenance required?

The only thing you may want to do if necessary is to clean these with some steel wool if they start to develop some rust.

Why did you start a second shop?

With this shop I wanted to offer pieces that can be ready to ship much sooner and that could be more affordable. With my other shop every piece is built to order and it usually takes 14 to 16 days. Every piece shown in this shop ships in 3 to 4 days.

This is an original raw steel ornament made by Richard Walker. I am a one man operation. These are great for the pet lover or as a gift to a pet lover. They can also be used as a pet memorial by attaching your pet tag with the included extra piece of twine. Perfect for the Christmas tree or use them as a year round decoration.

Materials – Only the highest quality materials are used. I cut these out of 14 gauge steel that is about the thickness of a Nickel. They are thick enough not to bend but not overly heavy.

The Finish – This piece has a natural uncoated raw steel finish. The color is a dark gray to bluish gray. When this steel is made at the foundry the heating process produces this nice hard gray blue finish which consists of iron oxides. Since this is a natural finish, the look of each piece will vary. The predominant color is always the bluish gray and it is common to have darker areas, some spots, or even some brown hues as well. They are all beautifully unique.

The gray coating has some natural resistance to corrosion but these pieces may develop some rust in more humid environments. Rust does add to the patina and the finish will look better with age. Any rust can easily be removed with some steel wool.

The Process – I start off with an original design then cut each piece on a plasma cnc that I actually designed and built. After cutting, I hand grind each piece around the edges, both front and back to make sure they are smooth and then do some hand grinding to refine the designs to make them as nice as possible. After grinding, a hand tied piece of jute twine is attached for hanging.

Personalization – I include a piece an extra piece of twine so you can attach your pet tag if you will be using these as a memorial ornament. Adding a tag is a great way to personalize these.

Sending as a gift? - In the checkout area you can mark this as a gift and you can also provide a gift message if you like. I'll print it out and will put it in the box. These can be shipped directly to your recipient.

Shipping – I charge a flat rate to ship these and mail these USPS First Class.
