This sweet dress is from the late 1930's by Joseph Love Inc. This is labeled with the late 1930's "Love" tag.
~ Joseph Love, Inc. was one of the largest manufacturers of young girl's clothing in the world. Founder Joseph Love (1891-1971) started his career as an office boy and salesman at the garment manufacturing firm Stein Moss & Co. After serving in the Army during World War I, he started his own childrens-wear manufacturing firm and served as board chairman from 1920 to 1971. The company was known for its fine details" smocking, appliques, pockets shape like sailboats or spring flowers along with cheerful prints and plaids.~
I have seen several original hand-painted watercolor sketches with swatches at the FIT library and his dresses at the MET museum. I love every single one of his designs...they are the cutest ever!
