This planter pot is hand built in a buff colored stoneware clay and glazed in Turkish Amber glaze. On the exterior I brushed on the glaze and then wiped it back on the flat surfaces, leaving the glaze mostly in the deep recesses of the textured design. On the interior I brushed on several coats so the inside is fully glazed and very glossy. The glaze is a deep, rich glossy dark brown color.

I formed this planter by building it inside a bisqued mold, adding each individual piece that is either relatively smooth on the outside, or highly textured with a wooden stamp or a large textured coil that resembles ammonites. The interior is smoothed where each addition is made. The exterior was left showing the outline of each new small slab, adding to the patterned design. There is a new view with each turn of the piece. This planter was so much fun to make!

The planter is 7 1/4 inches wide at the rim, 5 inches tall and 4 3/4 inches wide at the base. It has 1 large drainage hole as shown in photos #7. It comes with a wheel thrown drip dish glazed in the same Turkish Amber glaze. The dish is 5 1/2 inches wide and 1 inch tall. The planter can be used inside or outside.

The combined height of the planter and dish is 5 1/2 inches at its tallest point.

Fired to cone 5 in an electric kiln.
