Gimme the Peacock is a statement piece for sure standing 6" (15cm) tall from the tip of his tail to the top of his gnarled perch. More than 60 feet of reclaimed copper wire and many hours went into the making of this very handsome fellow.
His name may be Gimme but his beginnings are much sweeter. I had the honor to have been included in a treasury with this beautifult print by BestArtStudios2 http://www.etsy.com/listing/59594197/huge-3-day-sale-heartache-and-poetry-xiv
In thumbnail size it reminded me of a Peacock sitting in a tree. Just weeks later I joined a color challenge group on FaceBook. The challenge to make a new piece in the chosen colors of the week. When blue and green came up I knew it had to be a Peacock.
I didn’t make the deadline for that week in fact it took many weeks before I was finished. Gimme turned out to be a little labor intensive, but then most works of the heart are, I think.
He sits on many vines of wire that I wove and twisted together forming his perch, the ends have been kissed with the torch so as not to scratch you when wearing him.
Gimme’s body is wire woven and accented with glass and crystal beads, and his tail is a combination of beadwoven glass beads and wire spirals that took many hours to complete.
He glows when backlit so whether you choose to wear him or display him in a window he is one gorgeous Peacock :)
Gimme's hand crafted chain is 18" (45cm) long can be lengthened or shortened if needed, just convo me when purchasing and let me know what you need, I'll be happy to accommodate.

As with all my copper pieces this necklace will patina down to a rich earthy brown over time.(You can see in the last photo in this listing the patina my favorite necklace has = http://www.etsy.com/listing/67518765/crystal-and-copper-everyday-necklace) A quick lemon juice bath (or ketchup if you’re feeling it) and a scrub with an old soft bristled tooth brush will brighten it right back up to shiny penny new if you so desire.
