Please Remember: The Beauty of Pottery is that each of our pieces are turned by hand from a lump of clay. It is glazed by hand and fired in non-computerized kilns. They are the result of 30 years of making pots and learning from lots of mistakes in the process. All of our glazes are homemade recipes that we have created over the years. The pictures we have provided are examples of how a glaze may come out of a firing. They can vary significantly however due to anything from cold weather to windy days to where a particular piece may be sitting that day in the kiln. Each piece is beautiful in their own unique way. That is why we all love pottery, if we wanted it to all look alike, we'd make it in China. Nichols Pottery is high fired in gas kilns to near 2400 degrees. It is the ultimate handmade stoneware and occasionally a piece may have a "Kiln Kiss" these little marks make each and every piece more uniquely different than the next. During firings, lots of things happen, organic matter flies around and occasionally a carbon spot or tiny air bubble may surface. These are the things that pottery fans love and give each piece great character.

Care & Use: This pottery is microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.
Pottery should never be placed on direct heat, under a broiler, over direct flame or on the stovetop.
Avoid extreme temperature changes when using pottery. Start pottery in a cold oven.
Let cold pottery warm up before heating in the microwave. Do not set hot pottery on cold countertops.
