Our wooden combs can handle a bit of moisture—feel free to use them on damp hair. Just remember: if you do, it’s best to apply a light coat of natural oil (any kind except sunflower) afterwards to keep the wood nourished. Using your comb on dry hair? Then a gentle oil treatment every month or so is usually enough—but let your comb guide you. You’ll notice when it starts to look a bit thirsty. If you store your comb in a bathroom where humidity and temperature often fluctuate, we recommend oiling it more frequently to prevent any damage.

Noticed that the wood grain has started to lift a little from moisture? No worries! You can easily smooth it out with a firm cloth or very fine sandpaper (400 grit or higher). After polishing, don’t forget to apply a layer of oil to restore protection. To clean your comb, gently wash it with mild soap and a soft toothbrush, then pat it dry with a towel and let it air dry naturally. Avoid hairdryers, radiators, or other heat sources.
