Surprisingly soft, this is Ashford's Mill Ends Roving. This wonderful fiber offers a lot of fiber types and colors throughout. These Mill Ends have a fantastic because of all the silk and extra fine fiber mixed in for a beautiful "blended" appearance. I have hundreds of bumps of this and they're beautiful but none will look exactly like each other because they end runs where they need to add more colors. If you need a certain amount for a project, make sure you order enough in the order, because a second purchase at a later date will likely not match exactly. Also, what you get may not look exactly like a certain picture, so please know these vary a bit. As shown in the photos, they vary, so you may get some looking like one or another of the pics but not the exact same roving pictured. As you can see, some will have more of a blue cast, while others may have more pink or red. While there are different color hues to this, it's more of an earthy, dusty rose with no brightness to it. There are also subdued hints of blues, golds and greens, and each bump is different from the next. My flash just picks up the pink and not much else. The first two pictures are most accurate for the roving itself but check out the beautiful yarn this makes in the last picture, left in a feedback by a customer!

I got a great deal on this one time blending of wonderful mill ends from Ashford's beautiful wool lines. Since all their fiber is so nice, and they hate to waste any bit of it, they gather it all up after the various fiber types and dyelots have gone through and run it through their system to blend all the lovely colors and textures together to make this soft and lovely Heather colorway. One will have more red, another blue and yet another green streaks through it, so it is not always going to be the same. I will send a consistent colorway per batch ordered though. It includes Natural and dyed Merino, Corriedale, Alpaca, and Silks. The natural colors tone down the bright dyed colors and the dyed colors "perk up" the natural colors to make a very pleasing, earthy presentation with bits of colors running all through it. It is wonderful for spinning, wet and nuno felting as well as needle felting, even an excellent product for over-dying.

Please order as much as you need for your project at one time because if you order again later, the chances of it being the same are not good at all. Every 2 pound bump is different from another.

The micron is also a mix from their very fine Silks and Alpaca, to their fine (22 micron) Merino and (24 - 25 micron) Corriedale, so it's still a nice soft top. I love earth toned colorways and I honestly think these are my new favorite color blend and I'd LOVE a sweater or blanket made of this! At this price, it could be used for core wool but I think it's way too nice to hide inside anything.
